Breast Care Coordination
As part of your personal breast care team, our Breast Care Coordinators (BCCs) are available to answer questions and help alleviate anxiety by guiding you through the breast care journey. A BCC is available at each of our three sites in Anchorage, Eagle River and Mat-Su Valley. These services are offered to our patients at no charge.
Timely Answers
As an extension to your primary care provider, our BCCs working closely with our breast radiologists to ensure streamlined care. This means when you are seen for a screening mammogram, and further imaging is recommended by a fellowship trained breast radiologist, our BCCs are able to write the appropriate orders for the aforementioned additional imaging. This is seen to eliminate much of the wait time and getting you answers timely.
Biopsy Consultations
If a breast biopsy is necessary, our BCC is available to consult with you to help you feel prepared and informed beforehand.
Pathology Consultations
Pathology results are distributed by the lab to both the performing facility, IA and the ordering provider, your PCP. Once those are received, your report will be addended by the breast radiologist to reflect those findings. Often times the results are difficult to comprehend. Our BCC team is here to help explain results in clear, reassuring language.
Risk Assessment
A lifetime risk assessment is a structured evaluation that estimates an individual’s likelihood of developing breast cancer. We have chosen the Tyrer-Cuzick model, which incorporates hormonal factors, age and body mass index, genetic factors and breast density to produce a personalized risk score, which helps guide screening, prevention and early detection strategies. Our BCCs are available to answer questions in regard to your risk assessment.
Genetic Testing/Counseling
Imaging Associates is proud to partner with Myriad Genetics, a well-established leader in hereditary cancer risk testing. When scheduling a mammogram, you are asked a serious of questions. Some are directly pertaining to your family history. If you answer “yes” to any of those, we offer a Genetic Consultation with our BCC. Testing is done in office with our BCC with results coming back within a few weeks. If anything is detected, you have the ability to speak with Myriad Genetics’ certified genetic counselors to walk you through next steps.
Mammogram Parties
Gather 8-12 of your gals who are also in need of a screening mammogram and join us for an after-hours mammogram Party at any of our three locations. Enjoy refreshing drinks and delicious hors d’oeuvres in a relaxing spa-like atmosphere while individually getting your screening mammogram. This is a great opportunity to meet our wonderful BCCs who join our Mammo Parties to answer any questions.
